Crown Lounge 25 or 52? Schiphol’s Schengen lounge, explained

Lounge 25 and Lounge 52 differ by two digits and one passport control. I have used both: 52 once, in February, before a flight to Manchester, and 25 four times since I became Platinum, once on the way to Copenhagen and three times on the way to Paris. Four visits are enough to say what it is, and what it is not.

Quick Verdict

Verdict: It does the job for a Schengen trip. The food is nothing special, and there is always a crowd, but there is plenty of choice and plenty of comfortable seats.

Where It Is and How to Find It

Crown Lounge 25 is KLM’s lounge for Schengen departures, after security and without passport control. If your flight leaves from the non-Schengen side (UK, Ireland, intercontinental), you want Lounge 52 instead, and there is no practical way back once you have crossed passport control.

The rule is simple: the number follows your flight, not your status.

Lounge 25 sits upstairs in Lounge 1, near the D59–87 gates, signed “Airline lounges 25–29”.

Who Gets In

You must be on a KLM-operated flight or an international SkyTeam-operated flight, on the same day, before departure or during a connection. Free access goes to:

  • Business Class passengers on a Standard or Flex ticket (a Light award does not include lounge access)
  • Flying Blue Ultimate, Platinum and Gold members
  • SkyTeam Elite Plus passengers, who can enter from 3 hours before departure and at any time during a connection

Platinum and Gold members bring 1 guest on the same flight; Ultimate members bring up to 8. Silver and Explorer do not get in for free. Silver gets 25% off paid access, but only if booked in advance.

Anyone can pay from 3 hours before departure. The price appears in My Trip or at the entrance, and you pay by card or with miles; cash is not accepted. Opening hours are 04:45–22:00 daily.

Transavia passengers are not let in, even with Flying Blue status. The lounge is for KLM-operated and international SkyTeam flights, and Transavia is neither.

Inside the Lounge

According to Amsterdamtips, a light refurbishment in 2024 refreshed the seating and facilities. There is a dining area, armchairs along internal windows over the terminal walkway, and a business corner at the back with individual workspaces and long tables. The showers are at the back, next to the toilets.

Food & Drinks

KLM describes a hot and cold buffet, drinks, wines and champagne. Wine, beer and spirits are self-service.

The food is nothing special. What the lounge has is choice.

The Detail That Makes the Difference

The seats. A lounge that is always busy can still be a good one if you can sit down, and in Lounge 25 you nearly always can.

Wi-Fi, Power & Practical Stuff

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Daily newspapers and a service desk
  • Showers are available and bookable on KLM’s lounge page, but they are not in the same league as the ones at CDG 2F
  • Opening hours 04:45–22:00, so it is open for the first KLM wave

There is always a crowd, but there are also many seats, and they are comfortable.

Is It Worth It?

For a Schengen trip, it does the job. It does not compare with Lounge 52, but for a short stop before a flight, especially without a connection, it is a nice lounge.
